Hemorrhoids is almost as common a malady as the things that can cause it.  There are many different things that can cause hemorrhoids.  This list can help you identify the possible reasons you are suffering from hemorrhoids, or give you a list of actions to avoid to keep from dealing with hemorrhoids in the future.

Low Fiber Intake

Some of the main causes of hemorrhoids are constipation, strained bowel movements, and extended periods of time sitting on the toilet.  All of these common causes of hemorrhoids can be attributed to a low amount of fiber in the diet.  Keeping your diet chock full of vegetables, fruits, and other fibrous elements can help to prevent hemorrhoids.  Including fibrous elements in your diet can also help to alleviate and cure existing hemorrhoids you may be currently suffering from.

Pregnancy

A large percentage of pregnant women end up suffering from hemorrhoids at some point during their gestation period.  If this happens, the hemorrhoids usually appear in the last trimester.  This is thought to be due mostly to the weight and pressure placed on the varicose veins in that sensitive region.

Strain in the Rectum

There are many behaviors and habits that can put undue strain on the anus.  These are usually related to alternative lifestyle habits such as anal sex or other forms of sodomy.  The repetitive movements and friction involved in such behaviors can tear the tissue, dilate the veins, and externalize pieces of the rectum.  All of these can lead to hemorrhoids.

Poor Bathroom Habits

There are a number of poor restroom habits that can lead to hemorrhoids.  Wiping too hard after a bowel movement can cause anal fissures that can lead to hemorrhoids.  Straining or pushing too hard during a hard bowel movement can cause hemorrhoids as well.  Another bad bathroom habit that can cause hemorrhoids is sitting too long on the toilet in a bad position.  This can weaken the varicose veins in the rectum and lead the tears and hemorrhoids.

Liver Disease

There are certain forms of liver disease and other conditions that can make acidic stool or constipation a regular thing.  This strain can ruin the tissue of the rectum or weaken it to the point of causing hemorrhoids.  The medication for some diseases can also cause hemorrhoids to appear.

Strenuous work is often a contributing factor of hemorrhoids.  Usually this happen due to heavy lifting or long periods of standing or walking.  The pressure on the anus involved in these activities causes hemorrhoids and can generally be avoided by following normal safety measures and habits.
